Hotel Phoenix, which opened in July 2009, combines the simple robustness of traditional Alpine wooden interiors with glass and modern design features made of locally sourced wood and stone, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere within the property's contemporary aesthetic.

The Phoenix's offering includes 27 beautifully appointed guest rooms, an inviting lounge/bar area with fireplace and free Wi-Fi access, and a spacious glass-walled breakfast room, flooded with natural light and opening onto the adjoining terrace. A delicious buffet is available every morning in the breakfast area.

Located in the quiet Wiesti quarter of Zermatt, the Phoenix is within easy walking distance of the train station and Bahnhofstrasse, the village's main shopping and dining thoroughfare. Bus service to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise and Sunnegga-Rothorn Paradise lift stations, as well as to other points in the village, is only 1 to 2-minutes on foot from the hotel.

About your host

Since June 2016 Laurence Zavagno & Denis Matray welcome you at the Phoenix. Laurence and Denis have been working and living in Zermatt for more than 24 years. During that time they were able to improve their experience in established hotels and restaurants.

They took over the hotel Phoenix on 1 June 2016 as tenants, and since then they charm the guests with lot of passion and hospitality.

Breakfast included

We offer a rich and fresh buffet breakfast with warm and cold food/dishes. The best reason to get up early and enjoy the delicacies. If you prefer to sleep in, we offer our breakfast until 10.00 am

Massages

Would you like to relax after a full day of skiing or hiking? We provide massages in our hotel by trained staff.

Environmentally friendly

Our environment is very important to us. By using geothermal heat for hot water and heating, we are contributing our part to minimise our environmental impact. We do not use any harmful fossil fuels.

Baby cots

On request, we can provide a baby bed or extra bed (in a triple room) for your children. Please note that this is not possible in all our rooms due to the space available, and a prior contact with our reception is necessary. Thank you very much.

Reception

Our reception is open from 8.00 am to noon and from 1.00 pm to approx. 9.00 pm. Our multilingual staff will be happy to assist you. Check-in is from 3.00 pm to approx. 9.00 pm, and check out is from 8.00 am until at the latest 11.00 am.

Shower facilities

We offer you the possibility to take a shower after check-out.

Transfer

In winter, we can also organize for you, between 8 am and 6 pm, the transfer from the train station Zermatt to the hotel at CHF 5.—per person per way.

Free wireless internet

Take advantage of our complimentary hotel Wi-Fi available throughout the hotel. We can provide plug adapters at the reception for your electronic devices.

La table d'hôtes

Enjoy culinary moments in our hotel. As a former student of Paul Bocuse, your host Denis Matray conjures up poems of culinary delights. From time to time we are organizing gourmet dinners, for a minimum number of 10 guests and on reservation. Would you like to celebrate with us? Do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to welcoming you at our "table".

Bar and lounge

Relax in front of the fireplace, and unwind in the warm and peaceful atmosphere. Use the time-out for a few homemade gourmet snacks, small appetizers or read your favourite book. Take your well-earned break in our bar.

Ski room

You can leave your equipment in our easily accessible ski room. We provide ski boot heaters, so you will have warm and dry boots in the morning. We also offer all skiers and snowboarders an expert tuning service to ensure you get the most from your equipment and have a great time on the slopes. (fees apply)

Your four-legged friends are welcome in our hotel. (fees apply)

Lunch box

Would you like to enjoy Zermatt and have lunch outdoors? Just ask for our lunch boxes. They are also suitable for a long journey home (fees apply). Please advise us 24 hours in advance.
