Whether summer or winter – the Gornergrat offers something for everyone. In summer there are a wide variety of walking and hiking trails. The start of the biking trail from Gornergrat to Zermatt starts right next to the train station. Rotenboden (the last station before Gornergrat) is the starting point of the hiking tour to the Monte Rosa hut (only for good hikers and a mountain guide is strongly recommended), or you can take a easy walk past the Riffelsee to Riffelberg. In winter, the ski area around the Gornergrat is easily accessible from the Rothorn side and offers easy slopes for not so skilful skiers.
